Thai Yoga
Thai Bodywork traces its origins back some 2,500 years to Thailand where it has been taught and practiced. Thai Yoga Bodywork is actually a fusion of various biomechanical disciplines in which massage, acupressure and assisted yoga stretches are dominant.
It differs from Western massage, in that it emphasizes pressing, compression, and stretching as opposed to rubbing or kneading and no oils or lotions are used. To receive the work, the client remains fully dressed in comfortable loose fitting clothes and lies on a floor mat.
The practitioner, using hands, forearms, elbows and feet applies pressure in a rhythmic flow of movements. In response to the pressure on reflex points, tension and stagnant material trapped in the clients joints, muscles and connective tissues is released.
This results in improved flexibility, good health, emotional and physical wellness in the young or old, active or inactive. The client does not need to be flexible or know yoga to take a session. There are many modifications to each stretch to fit the comfort level of each recipient.
